Charity Sip Cover

Here it is — 2013’s Charity Sip Blitz cover. My contribution is Final Awakening, a sequel to my last year’s sip, Slow Awakening. Coming out in September. Mine is set and ready to go.

Haunted Halls Accepted!

Haunted Halls has just been accepted by Less Than Three Press!

It’s so much fun to move stories up from “Works In Progress” to “Forthcoming.”

Haunted Halls is a ghost story set on a small Vermont college campus that is a whole lot like where I went to school. I’d describe this story as a sensitive, delicate tale about a young man learning way more than he thought he would when he headed unwillingly off to college.

I can tell that I’m going to be switching from writing hard to revising hard in the near future. A happy thought.

Sorry…

I’ve been a terrible blogger this summer, but I have been writing my tail off, and hopefully soon everyone will have lots of new stuff of mine to read.

Starting with Webs! I just signed a contract with Changeling Press to have this story published. It’s a BDSM science fiction tale that was heaps of fun to write. Lots more on it later.

I also have two other pieces submitted right now and am waiting to hear back.

Charity Sip Accepted!

Very pleased. My short story, Final Awakening, has just been accepted by Torquere Press for this year’s Charity Sip Blitz. This story is a sequel to my last year’s story, Slow Awakening. That was the story about the king and the ambassador and the fantastic night they had in the caves… This is the story of what happens when the king goes to visit the ambassador in the ambassador’s homeland.

This year’s theme is uniforms, and the story will be coming out in September, I believe. Much more on it later, I’m sure!

On other fronts: Haunted Halls, my ghost story novella, is in the hands on my writer’s group as of Sunday. My novel, Another Healing, is getting closer, closer to being ready to submit — I’m at the tweaking and polishing stage, finally. I will be SO HAPPY when this novel is submitted! I have been writing every free minute I have, even when I’m riding in the car some of the time, believe it or not. I don’t think I’ve ever pushed so hard for so long! But it’s wonderful to be in such a creative place, instead of being under deadlines and up to my eyeballs in marketing forms. All that will come later. And I can’t wait for that, too!

Did I ever say how much I LOVE writing?

Working in the Rain

My life is narrowing down to revising and rain. And more rain, and more revising, and more rain, and…

Another Healing is finally starting to work with me! This novel is going to be good. Sometime…

Summer Solstice!

The shortest night of the year. It’s beautiful, warm, and clear here, with an almost full moon rising over the tamarack trees. I intend to celebrate by swimming naked in the pool under its light in a little while.

I hope everyone else finds peace and pleasure tonight as well.

Darn RL!

I’ve had an awful lot of unpleasant stuff going on lately, but that isn’t a bad thing for my writing. The worse things get, the more I NEED to write to escape. In the past couple weeks, I’ve finished a good rough draft of my 2013 Charity Sip. I’m going to sub it as soon as my husband/proofreader gets a chance to look at it.

Next, I’m going to polish up Haunted Halls, my ghost story, and get that subbed as well. Then it’s back to Another Healing, which is taking good shape. As always, it seems like I sub a bunch of stuff at once. There must be a way to just write one story at a time. But I haven’t found it yet.

Deep breath. Stay calm. I’m good.

Well…

I kinda sorta made my goal. I finished my story, but it finished before it hit the 25,000 word submission cut off I was aiming for. So I’ll just submit it elsewhere. I had a whole lot of real life stuff hit pretty hard and unexpectedly soon after my last post, like the death of my dog. I’m going to put my new story away to rest a while and now I’m working on this year’s Charity Sip for Torquere. More on that, later. It’s a fun story so far!

Writing, writing, writing…

8,000 words. My goal seems miles away. Between having to shut down for thunderstorms and real life messes that keep happening to me… I’m feeling good, though. I think the only way to write is to stop everything else that’s non-essential for a while.

Send me energy!

Spring

Lilacs and Apple Blossoms. It smells unbelievable around here.

I have set a goal. 25,000 words by the first of June. I need to create.
