Usually on the Solstice, I like to go for a long walk and think about the turning season and reflect on where I am in the universe and where I’ve been since the Sun and the Earth were in this spot last year. However, today marked the end of my second full week back at school after surgery, as well as being very, very busy and very, very stressed. Last night we had an insane windstorm that knocked out our power until noon, which set me up for a grumpy day since I didn’t get to start off with my shower. So when I got home, as soon as I’d dealt with everything I needed to deal with, I took a long, hot shower. That meant that when got ready to take my walk, it was dark, and raining. We’ve had snow all week, but it disappeared today.
So I went out on the porch and took a photo looking into my house, and a photo looking out, and reflected that I’m still here and the world hasn’t ended, or if it has, I haven’t noticed, and called it quits.
Happy Winter Solstice, everyone!
